RTV-2 Tin-Cured Silicone Rubber – 30 Shore A (Premium Mold Making Grade)
Description:
Our 30A Tin-Cured Silicone is a high-performance, condensation-cure mold making rubber designed for durability, ease of use, and precision. Known as the “workhorse” of the industry, this medium-hardness silicone (Shore A 30) offers exceptional tear strength and elongation, making it the ideal choice for casting complex shapes with deep undercuts.
Unlike sensitive platinum silicones, this tin-based formula is highly resistant to inhibition, allowing you to cure molds against diverse substrates—including sulfur clays and 3D printed resins—without tackiness or surface defects. It is an economical yet professional-grade solution for artists, prototypers, and industrial manufacturers.
Key Features:
-
High Tear Strength: Withstands repeated demolding of heavy or abrasive materials like concrete and gypsum without tearing.
-
Inhibition Resistant: Cures reliably over sulfur-based sculpting clays and other contaminants that typically ruin platinum silicones.
-
Excellent Detail Reproduction: Captures microscopic textures, from wood grain to fingerprints, ensuring perfect replicas every time.
-
Easy to Use: Low viscosity ensures easy pouring and bubble release without requiring vacuum degassing equipment.
-
Economical: Provides professional performance at a lower cost point compared to platinum-cure alternatives.
Recommended Applications:
-
Art & Sculpture: Reproduction of sculptures, statues, and figurines.
-
Architectural Restoration: Casting cornices, columns, and decorative moldings in plaster or concrete.
-
Industrial Casting: Production of molds for polyurethane, epoxy, and polyester resins.
-
Candle & Soap Making: Creating custom molds for wax and soap products.
Technical Specifications:
-

-
Hardness: 30 Shore A (Medium)
-
Mixing Ratio: 100:2 to 100:5 (by weight)
-
Pot Life (Working Time): 30–45 minutes
-
Demold Time: 6–24 hours (depending on temperature and catalyst ratio)
-
Color: White / Off-White (Base)
-
Shrinkage: Low (<1.0%)
How to Use:
-
Weigh Part A (Base) and Part B (Catalyst) strictly according to the mixing ratio (e.g., 100g Base + 2-3g Catalyst).
-
Mix thoroughly for 3-5 minutes, ensuring you scrape the sides and bottom of the container to blend all material.
-
Pour the mixture slowly into one corner of your mold box to allow the material to flow over the model and minimize air entrapment.
-
Allow to cure at room temperature (73°F / 23°C) before demolding.
Note: This product is not food-safe. For food-grade applications, please choose our Platinum-Cure series.
